VoIP

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a technology for delivery of voice communications and multimedia sessions over Internet Protocol (IP) networks, such as the Internet, instead of traditional (analog) lines. VoIP can allow you to make a call directly from a computer, a special VoIP phone, or a traditional phone connected to a special adapter. VOIP is also the catch-all term for passing voice traffic between offices and locations as it is done over a LAN or WAN, although it is technically incorrect in many cases.
